Sometimes our dreams cause us to look far away, not realizing what is just in frony of us. No restaurant address this time (sorry for foodies, but you can find my article for a good meal in Alsace at La Petite Auberge).
Have you ever considered going to visit the Great Wall of China, this immense fortification, the largest building ever built by man? But China is far. What if I was telling you that the second biggest wall in the World is in Europe?
More precisely, this construction is located in Croatia, between Split and Dubrovnik, at the beginning of the peninsula of Pelješac. The region is beautiful and full of places worth seeing, not to mention the Mediterranean Sea which is never far away.
But let’s go back to our wall. I had the chance to discover this place in 2007, during a stay in Croatia. You need to go to the small village of Mali Ston. Access to the wall is easy from this small coastal town. The wall, made of white stones, stretches out from the town on the hillside and overlooks the sea. It offers visitors many panoramas under a sometimes blazing sun (plan to protect yourself from the sun).

Access was free during my visit. If you have more recent information, please feel free to write to me or leave me a comment. If you go there, the city is famous for its oyster culture. Notice to amateurs!
